Traditional enterprise networks are designed primarily to provide users with access to apps and data hosted in company-operated data centers. This model assumes that users will access these resources from inside the network corporate perimeter, over WAN links from branch offices, or remotely over VPN connections. As a result, internet traffic for branch offices is often centralized and backhauled over the WAN through the datacenter.
